A very scarce collection of three historical antiquities works on numismatics and Sicilian history, written by the artist and printer Hubert Goltzius. Illustrated with many plates. Three volumes bound in one. All three volumes dated 1618 Each volume of this work is very scarce. Written in Latin. 'Sicilia' illustrated with two maps, and thirty-seven plates. 'Graeciae' illustrated with sixty-four plates. Engraved title page to 'Sicilia' and 'Graeciae&apos. 'Thesaurus Rei Antiquariae Huberrimus ex Antiquis ta' is printed in double columns. Letterpress title to the second part of the second work, 'Siciliae Historia Posterior Sive Eorum&apos. Blank leaf bound before this title page. Register runs *4, A-V4, *6, F2, A-Aaa4, Bbb3, A-N4, a-d4, e2, )(6. Collated, complete. Collated from Jisc from copies held at the University of Oxford Libraries and the National Trust Libraries. A collection of three historical works written by Hubert Goltzius. Three early works on numismatics. Looking at old coins and medallions, and the history of Sicily, discussing ancient Greek and ancient Latin, and numismatics in great detail. Goltzius found the basis and groundwork for the systematic study of numismatics. 'Thesaurus ' was left unpublished upon Goltzius' death, ad Jacob de Bie of Antwerp eventually gathered the work and published it. Goltzius was a Renaissance painter and printer from the Southern Netherlands. His final work was published on 1576, a work on the Emperors of Greece in medallions. Hubert Goltzius had his own print shop in Bruges, where he published his works. Prior owner's ink inscription to the verso to the front endpaper, 'Ex Bibliotheca Edmondi Baillou&apos. Some loss to the head and tail of the spine and to the head of the front joints. Very light surface cracks to the pinse. Marks to the boards. A little bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned with some spots. Small closed tear to the tail of leaf A1 of 'Thesaurus', not affecting text. Small amount of loss to leaf G1 of 'Siciliae Historia', affecting three words. Mark and very small amount of loss to plate eleven of 'Graecia', not affecting the image.
