The third edition, with the ESTC listing two earlier printings in 1700 and 1702. Only seen once at auction since 1970 Although no author is stated to the title page, this work is commonly attributed to Sir Andrew Birnie. Birnie was later styled Lord Saline. Birnie was the Dean of the Faculty of Advocates from 1675. The Faculty of Advocates comprises of an independent body of lawyers who practise as advocates before the courts of Scotland. To the rear there is an Exposition or Dictionary of the most material words in 'charters, seasins and other writs' used in Latin. ESTC No: T84151. With the decorative woodcut to the first leaf, as called for. Collated, complete. This work is split into sections; 'Rights Personal and Mixt', 'Rights Heretable Redeemable', 'Rights heretable Irredeemable, and others thereanent', 'Rights Tutorial and others of the like nature', 'Rights Matrimonial and the like', 'Rights Ecclesiastical', 'Rights Arbitral' and 'Solemnities required for perfecting Securities&apos. In a full calf binding. Rebacked, with the original boards preserved. Externally, generally smart with several marks to the boards, and rubbing to the extremities. Internally, tightly bound in places, particularly to the start and end of the work. Excision, to the top of title page, from a prior owner's name.
