Comprising of Pars Secunda, Pars Tertia and pars Quarta. Parts III and IV are bound together as issued. Therefore, this set is lacking Pars Prima. The title page to part III is red and black, whereas the title page to parts II and IV are in black only. Claus was a licentiate of theology, and Catholic pastor to Hirschbach in Swabia, Oberndorf, Kaufbeuren and to Biberbach. This work was first published in 1741 and comprises of four parts total. To this work Claus discusses several of his moral concepts in the context of Catholic doctrines and having confidence in God. Bookplate for the Bibliotheca Seminarii S Ioannis to the front pastedown of both volumes. With the neat inscription 'Bequeathed by Canon W Murnane RIP' to the recto of front endpaper to both volumes. With the signatures: a-c4, d, a-3z4, [1]; )(4, a-g2, a-3f4, 3g2, (a)-(d)2, a-2y4, 2z2, 3a-c2. Collated using the signatures, complete. An uncommon work, particularly to have so many of the volumes together. In contemporary calf bindings. Externally, rubbed to the extremities. Front board to the second part is detached but present. Front endpaper to part II is detached but present. Bookplate for the Bibliotheca Seminarii S Ioannis to the front pastedown of both volumes. With the neat inscription 'Bequeathed by Canon W Murnane RIP' to the recto of front endpaper to both volumes. Internally, both volumes are firmly bound. Pages are generally bright. Ink spills to the head of many leaves to the second part, not affecting any text. Prior owner's notes to the margins in pencil to several leaves across both volumes, mostly referencing Bible verses. Small worm holes to the bottom margin of pages 350-357 of part III, not affecting any text. Ink spill to 3d4 of part III, slightly obscuring four words. Occasional scattered spotting to pages.
