This historical work was originally written by Antoine Maria Gratiani, also known as Antonius Maria Gratianus and Antoine-Marie Graziani. Graziani was a Roman Catholic prelate who was the Bishop of Amelia and Apostolic Nuncio to Venice. The fourth Ottoman-Venetian War, or the War of Cyprus, was fought between 1570 and 1573. The war was waged between the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Venice who was later joined by the Holy League, a coalition of Christian states formed under the auspices of the Pope. Illustrated, with five incredibly detailed large engraved vignette headpieces. Lacks the additional engraved title page. Rebound, in a smart full calf binding. A lovely copy of this very scarce work.
