Barham was also known for his contributions to the 'Edinburgh Review' and the 'Literary Gazette&apos. Written by Thomas Ingoldsby, which is the pen name for Richard Barham. Barham was a cleric of the Church of England, and is best known for this work. Illustrated by John Leech, a caricaturist, known for his work for 'Punch&apos. He was also well known for being the first illustrator of 'A Christmas Carol' by Dickens. In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, smart. Light fading to the spines. Some rubbing to the head and tail of the spines, heavier to the head of Volume II. Mark to the front board of Volume III. Front hinge of Volume I is strained but remains firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spotting, mostly to the first and last few pages. Dampstaining to the first few pages of Volume III.
