Part of a fifteen volume set of the complete works of Morley, these two volumes being Volumes XIV and XV. 'Burke', Volume XIV. A biography on Edmund Burke, an Anglo-Irish philosopher and statesman. He was a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons between 1766 and 1794, and was a member of the Whig Party. Burke is known for his works 'A Vindication of Natural Society', and 'Reflections on the Revolution in France&apos. 'Oracles on Man and Government', Volume XV. These are essays discussing various subjects, the essays being ttles 'A Great Teacher', 'Lecy on Democracy', 'Maine on Popular Government', 'Liberalism and Reaction', 'Aphorisms', 'Vauvenargues', 'A Few Words on French Models', and 'Auguste Comte&apos. John Morley, Viscount Morley of Blackburn, was a Liberal statesman, newspaper editor, and author. He was known for being a distinguished political commentator. Morley also wrote a biography on William Gladstone, who was Morley's hero. Politically, he opposed the Boer War and imperialism, and supported Home Rule for England. He was also opposed to British entry to the First World War in 1914. In a full cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Minor marks to the boards and spines. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with the odd spot to the first and last few pages. Pages of 'Burke' uncut. Very Good .
