A work of travel writing from the early 19th century, charting the author's three month journey from Dieppe, to Paris, to Lyon, the Pyrennees and Toulouse. In this work Morris Birkbeck, discusses the people and agricultural practises of these French regions. Morris Birkbeck was a a writer and agricultural innovator of the 18th and 19th centuries. He later established a settlement in the United States, and became the Secretary of State of Illinois. A very scarce work of agricultural history. Rebound, in a full cloth binding. Externally excellent with minor shelfwear. With a library blindstamp to the front board, and library bookplate to the front pastedown. Tape repairs to the front and rear hinges. Internally firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age toned throughout, with occasional handling marks. The occasional library stamp throughout with light creases to the several pages.
