Volume I with a frontispiece, and nine plates. Volume II with eight plates. Written by John Galt. Galt was a novelist and social commentator, who is often called the first political novelist in English. Collated, complete, though the frontispiece of Volume II has been misbound, and is actually facing page 275. In a full cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Light fading to the spines. Minor marks to the boards and spines. The odd spot to the fore edge. Blind stamp to the recto to the front endpapers, 'Melbourne House, Wells, Somerset&apos. Internally, firmly bound.
