The editor of this poetry collection, Arthur Henry Bullen, is remembered for founding the Shakespeare Head Press, which printed fine editions similar to the Kelmscott Press. Bullen has written a lengthy introduction which provides context to the poems. This work was written by Francis Davison, the son of the Elizabethan secretary of state William Davison. Of his literary contributions, he is known for 'The Masque of Proteus at Gray's Inn&apos. This poetry collection is his largest literary contribution, as he was the editor of the work and included several of his own poems. To the introduction, Bullen notes that this anthology is 'the most valuable of our old anthologies.' In the publisher's original cloth binding.
