Known primarily for her literary works, many of which were published under the pseudonym Frank Danby, Frankau was an incredibly prolific author. This particular work of non-fiction is a work that explores the art of stipple engravers, a work she wrote to fill in the lack of documentation on this particular style. Internally this work is in excellent condition, with bright and vibrant plates. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally sound, with loss to the head and tail of the spine, and rubbing to the extremities. Small cracks to the front and rear joints, both to the head and tail of the spine. Dampstaining to the front board, with the odd mark to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Closed tear to the tissue guard to plate XXXV and a closed tear to this plate, not affecting the image.
