Description: London, E. and T. William, 1792. Leather. The very scarce first edition of James Fennell's first account of what happened in Paris in 1791, during the French Revolution. A very scarce work. The first edition of this work. This work is a first hand account of the events that happened in Paris on the 20th June, 14th July, 10th August, and 2nd September in 1791, during the French Revolution. Written after a trip taken by the author to Paris in 1791. Written by James Fennell. Fennell was an actor who had many issues with debt during his life. In 1793 he travelled to America, acting in theatres in New York and Boston. He also wrote 'Linda and Clara, or the British Officer', and is said to have edited the 'Theatrical Guardian&apos. Undated, dated from Copac from copies held at Oxford University and Cambridge University. In a half calf binding with paper to the boards. Externally, both boards are detached but present. Some light marks and discolouration to the boards. A little loss to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd spot and handling mark. Front endpaper to page viii are detached with the front board. Title page to page vi is working loose and may detach with further handling. RIbbon marker detached but present. Fair . Ill.: None.
