This quarto edition of the poem is uncommon to find, as there was an octavo edition issued in the same year. 'The Testament of Beauty' comprises of four books, and is regarded as Bridges' most famous work. It earned him a great reputation in the literary field and he was appointed to the Order of Merit for this title. This work conveys Bridges' use of 'neo-miltonic syllabics' where the poem is based on syllables rather than accents. In the publisher's original cloth binding.
