Description: London, Printed For C. Dilly , 1789. Leather. A very scarce work written by Rev. William Dodd. A large proportion of this work was written during his incarceration. Third edition, with additions. In a full tree calf binding, with a red morocco spine label. Previous owners ink inscription to the front pastedown and front endpaper and also to verso of the title page. Written by the Rev. William Dodd, during his time in prison prior to his execution. Dodd was imprisoned on the charge of forgery, and was hanged at Tyburn in 1777. This particular work features his reflections on the judicial and prison systems of the 18th century. In addition to this volume features Dodd's last prayer, written that before his death, and a selection of his other miscellaneous works. In a full tree calf binding. Externally sound, with heavy rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and also to the extremities. Surface cracks to the spine. Heavy rubbing to the rear joint, with a large crack to the front joint. Light offsetting to both the front and rear pastedown and endpapers. The front hinge is very lightly strained. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd ink spot throughout. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
