Illustrated throughout with a frontispiece and nine plates. Written and illustrated by Llewellyn Jewitt. Jewitt was an illustrator and author, who was a prolific writer on a large range of subjects. He founded the heavily illustrated antiquarian journal 'The Reliquary', and also founded the 'Derby Telegraph&apos. Some of his other works include 'The Ceramic Art of Great Britain', 'Grave-Mounds and Their Contents', and 'The Stately Homes of England&apos. Collated, incomplete, as lacking Plate V. In the original publisher's limp cloth binding. Externally, smart. Only a little rubbing to the boards. Internally, generally firmly bound, though strained in places.
