Martin Chemnitz was a highly influential Evangelical Lutheran Theologian and Protestant reformer who is credited as a key figure in the continuation of Lutheran thought and doctrine. Chemnitz was a prolific writer, publishing a wide variety of work regarding theological doctrine, Biblical studies and religious history, as well as a highly influential and success autobiographical work. This work is considered to be one of the most important works relating to The Council of Trent. The Council of Trent was an ecumenical council of the Catholic Church, during which it issued condemnations regarding Protestantism, as well as clarifications regarding a number of key Catholic doctrine including original sin, Mass, scripture and Biblical Canon.
