John Aubrey was licensed to undertake a survey of Surrey by the cartographer and royal cosmographer John Ogilby in 1673. Aubrey was an English antiquary and natural philosopher, best known for his collection of short biographical pieces, 'Brief Lives&apos. Illustrated with eight plates. In the original publisher's cloth binding with the original price-clipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart. Small closed tear to the bottom edge of the front wrap of the dustwrapper, and a very little age-toning to the reverse. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Fine . Ill.: None.
