Thomas Henry Dyer was an English historical and antiquarian author, known for his extremely thorough and detailed writing style. History of Modern Europe was Dyer's first historical work, which remained in print until the end of the nineteenth century, was regarded as a meticulous compilation of historical facts, unusual in its wholly objective writing style. The work covers the period been 1453-1871. The work also contains a Table of Contemporary Sovereigns detailing the included monarchs to each period covered. A highly detailed objective set regarding the history of Europe between the years 1453-1871. In uniform full calf Harrow binding with gilt crest to the front board and gilt detail to the spine. Externally generally smart, with slight rubbing to the joints, extremities and spine. Slight rubbing to the boards, heavier to volumes four and five, resulting in slight loss to the front boards of both volumes. Joints starting but firm to all volumes. Marks to the boards. Slight fading to the front board of volume four. Slight loss to the gilt on the spine of all volumes. Area of damp staining to the rear board of volume one and two, heavier to volume one. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with just the odd spot, heavier to the first and last few pages. Very minor tidemarks to the extremity of the final five leaves of volume one. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
