Alfred Henry Forrester, often known under his pseudonym Alfred Croquill was an English author, comics artist, illustrator and artist who was soon associated with writing for a number of periodicals including Colburn's New Monthly, Bentley and Punch magazine. As well as his many works of short stories, songs and children's stories, he was also a prolific illustrator, and worked on wood, specialising in anthropomorphic animals. This collection of his stories is a fascinating English paraphrase of the story of Guru Paramartan, and is based on a translation of the original Tamil stories. In a red cloth binding. Externally smart with bumping to the extremities and the head and tail of the spine. Slight loss to the cloth at the head of the spine. Fading to the spine. Marks to the boards. Very small area of damp staining to lower extremity of spine. Front hinge slightly strained but firm. Internally firmly bound.
