John Alexander Ferguson was a New-Zealand born Australian lawyer, judge, bibliophile and author. His seven volume Bibliography of Australia was high magnum opus, and offered a comprehensive guide to books published between 1784 and 1900 in and on the topic of Australia. The work is often simply referred to as 'Ferguson' thus reflecting his impact upon the cataloging of Australian works between this period. A scarce example of a highly influential bibliographical resource. In blue cloth bindings in the original unclipped dustwrappers. Externally in lovely condition with just some very minor shelfwear to the extremities and the head and tail of the spine. The dustwrappers are in excellent condition with some slight shelfwear to the extremities and the head and tail of the spine. Slightly rubbed to the joints and extremities resulting in some slight loss to the blue patina. Slight sunning to the spines. The dustwrapper of volume one is adhered to the textblock at the rear joint. Closed tear, approximately three inches in length to the reverse of the wrap to volume V. Internally firmly bound.
