Sir William Russell Flint was a Scottish illustrator and artist well known for his watercolour paintings of women. Although achieving considerable success, he produced illustrations for notable works such as H Rider Haggard's 'King Solomon's Mines' (in the 1907 edition) and Chaucer's 'The Canterbury Tales (1912), many art critics were disturbed and critical of his supposed 'crassness' within his art and frequently deemed his depictions of the female form as overtly eroticized. Slight bumping to tail of spine. Offsetting to the rear free endpaper Dustwrapper is generally smart. Bumped to the extremities and head and tail of spine resulting in some chipping and closed tears. The odd handling mark and spot to front and rear of wrap. Internally generally firmly bound. Pages very bright and very clean throughout, with the odd light spot to the first and last few pages.
