From the author, Christmas 1874' Alexander Robert Badcock was a general in the British Army. Badcock's family were well known in the Taunton area with his grandfather and his great Uncle establishing 'Badcock's Bank in Taunton in 1800, which later became Westminster Bank. With an engraving by A. A. Clarke, a photograph depicting a sculptured panel of Richard Beere and a charming illuminated letter engraved from a drawing by Archer. Thomas Hugo was a member of the Archaeological society with a keen interest in Somerset, writing many books on the subject including 'The History of Taunton Priory' and 'A Ramble by the Tone, in a series of Letters to the Taunton Courier&apos. This work details the history of St Margaret's hospital in Taunton. In a blue cloth binding. Externally generally smart with shelfwear to the extremities and the head and tail of the spine. Rubbing to the spine resulting in some slight loss to the cloth. Backstrip is lifting with some loss to the tail of the spine. Marks to the boards. Bookplate of L. E. J and M. A. Brooke to front pastedown. Offsetting to endpapers. Hinges slightly strained but firm. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with just the odd spot and marginal age toning. Good . Ill.: A.
