This work is addressed to the Christian reader in the works preface, chastising them for their fixation on material goods, and the worldly destractions which turn them away from God. This work endeavours to reinforces the authors own beliefs in the need for piety and religious practice. William Dyer was a preacher, who dedicated much of his life to spreading the word of the gospel throughout his home county of Buckinghamshire, England. This scarce volume is ideal for those with an interesting in the religious practises of the 19th century. Rebound in full cloth binding. Externally smart. Light bumping to the head of the spine and to the extremities. Rubbing to the front board has resulted in a small amount of loss to the gilt title. With a amateur replacement of the the front and rear endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are heavily age toned throughout, with the odd spot and handling mark.
