The first edition, in the original price-clipped dustwrapper. John Grierson was a long distance pilot, who was the first solo pilot to fly from Great Britain, via Greenland, to Canada. This first hand account tells of his crash in Iceland, and of his second, successful attempt. With an introduction by the German aviator Wolfgang von Gronau, who was known for his tremendous long distance flights. With a frontispiece and a further twenty-nine plates, containing fifty one photographs. Collated; complete. In the original publishers cloth binding, with the original price-clipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart. Light spotting to the boards, however not that prominent due to pattern of boards. Very light bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities. Minor marking to the rear board. Front hinge slight strained but firm. Small amount of offsetting to the recto of the front endpaper, and to the verso of the rear endpaper. Stamp to the top edge, 'Supplied for the Public Service', and light spotting to the edges. Dustwrapper has some edgewear and fading to the spine. Minor mark to the fly-leaves, and light scattered spotting to the rear fly-leaf. Tear to the rear joint and spine, however has been taped up by prior owner, and remains secure. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright, with the occasional scattered spotting throughout. Very Good . Ill.: Not Stated. Very Good/Good.
