Nearly every leading actor of tthe age played under his management. He also sought to establish English opera, translating many operas. A fascinating work, giving great insight into nineteenth century theatre. This work discusses the organisational nature of the role, as well as featuring several anecdotes and passages on specific individuals in the industry. In contemporary full cloth bindings.
