With the coloured plate to part 1 as called for. Scarce, especially in the original parts. Samuel Orchart Beeton was a publisher who gave his name to many books of domestic and general information. His company was most famous for the Book of Household Management, written by his wife Isabella Beeton, however his work on garden management, most likely compiled and edited by him, was very popular. It covers flower, fruit and vegetable gardening for the whole year and is full of advertisements that give a fascinating insight into the leisure market of the day. In the original paper wraps. Externally, sound with chipping to the spines and loss to the spines. Slight loss to front wrap of part 1. Spotting and light tidemarks to all wraps with rusting from staple binding. Front wrap of Part 2 detached but present. Front wrap to part 5 detached and missing. Rear wrap to part 12 loosening. Internally, generally firmly bound.
