Description: Printed in Japan circa 1930s. 1930. Hardcover . Three hardback quartos appx 8 3/4 x 12 1/4 inches, white spine cloth & blue paper-covered boards, gilt titling each spine and each ofc, overall condition of the set including bindings, covers & contents Near or About VG. No dustjackets present, perhaps as issued. Each volume complete with 20 tipped-in plates. Vol. I - Landscapes, Vol. II - Portraits & Nudes, Vol. III - Still Life. Each volume has a so-called typical title page at the so-called front of the book primarily in French and a facing b&w photo frontispiece protected by a tissue. The 3 tissues are quite nice with only one small fold to one upper corner. Each volume also appears to have a title page in Japanese at the so-called back of the book, which is followed by a Contents page in both Japanese and French. The bindings are all tight. The covers show some wear and some light soil and staining, but not a great deal + the back board of Volume III is wavy/warped noticeably along the fore-edge from moisture, but there is not much evidence at all within the book (only light staining and some waviness to the free endpaper there). The plates & the stiff card stock pages they are mounted on & the blank page interleaves facing each plate are generally all quite nice. Photos to come.
