Friedrich Miquel (1811-1871) was a Dutch botanist, professor of botany and director of the Amsterdam botanical garden as well as director of the Leiden Rijksherbarium. An attractively illustrated work on poisonous plants growing in the Netherlands. The publisher Sulpke bought some plates from Aimé Henry in Bonn, used for his book 'Die Giftpflanzen Deutschlands'. A few other plates were made especially, by Henry, for Miquel's publication. Miquel is best known for his contributions towards the flora of the former Dutch East Indies.
