FIRST EDITION. 8vo, pp. [vi], 206, [4], 92, [2] , 107 [108 blank, 109 Errata, 110 blank], contemporary half calf, marbled boards (rubbed), gilt spine; slight wear to spine and corners, but a very good copy. Olde's work is a textbook for Swedish students of English, and his first extract, is from Scott's Tales of a Grandfather, with interlinear translation from English into Swedish of the first three chapters. The following chapters are only in English, and they are succeeded by a repeat of the opening chapter of Tales of a Grandfather, "Engelsk text till de tre forsta Kapitlen." The next extracts are from Washington Irving, the story "The Spectre Bridegroom," followed by "Rip Van Winkle." "The Wife," "A Contented Man," and "Christmas." Not traced in Bowden and Todd (who stop in 1832 in any case!).
