A very good set. Louis Marie-Julien Viaud (1850 - 1923) published his first of many exotic novels, Asayade, in 1879. Pecheur d'Islande Roman, a novel of life among the Breton fishing men, in 1886, and Edmund Gosse described it as as "the most popular and finest of all his writings." Giacomo Puccini and his librettists Madame Chrysantheme also drew on Madame Chrysantheme (1887) for Puccini's opera Madama Butterfly (1904)
