Title: Miscellaneous Poems, Some of which are in the Cumberland Dialect.
Description: Wigton, Printed by R. Hetherton, 1808. 12mo (in 6s), 174 x 96 mms., pp. vii [viii blank], 256,237 [283 blank], woodcut head- and tail-pieces by Bewick, contemporary quarter plum morocco, title in gilt on spine, marbled boards (rubbed); several leaves foxed. With a note in a later 19th century hand about Bewick. Stagg (1770 - 1823), the blind Cumberland poet, published his first volume of poems in 1790, Miscellaneous Poems, in Carlisle. Other volumes with similar titles followed, in 1804 and 1805. There is no date at the end of the Preface, and the first poem in this volume is "The Bridewain," followed by "The Return," and "Epitaph on the late Robert Burns."
