The anonymous editor doesn't think much of modern philosophy: "We have now no Idea of a true Philosopher, since this August Title is lavishly bestowed on a Sort of Curious and lazy People, w ho make it their only Business to understand some of the Secrets of Natgure, and spent the Time of thier Life in making Experiments ont he Weight of the air, and the Virtues of the Loadstone."
