With a calligraphic presentation leaf tipped in after the title, inscribed on the recto, "To the Honble Douglas Kinnaird/ Presented by the Author/ As a grateful acknowledgement of the/ kind attention received on a late occasion/ and with best wishes that he may make/ the word of God his guide. whatever/ important Station he may be called/ uponj to fill in the councils of the / Nation." Eusebius of Caesarea (c. a.d. 326) is said to have compiled the first Bible dictionary. The first book to be published in England that might be classified as a Bible dictionary was a volume of 200 pages, published in London by William Patten in 1575. A histoyhr of the numerous similar dictionaries subsequently published would probably take up several volume OCLC locates copies in BL, Cambridge, Manchester, Aberdeen, St. Andrews, Edinburgh, and Glasgow,
