Tall 8vo, 230 x 135 mms, pp. [x], 331 [332 blank], edges uncut, contemporary boards, with spine defective, joints cracked (but firm), large fragment of title, a bit worn; a modest copy. The playwright and author Mary Russel Mitford (1787–1855) published her first book, rather unimaginatively called Poems in 1810, followed in quick succession by Christina, or, The Maid of the South Seas (1811), inspired by the mutiny on the Bounty, Watlington Hill (1812), a poem about greyhound-racing, and the present book in 1813
