Seeley nad Son..., 1833. 12mo, 182 x 104 mms., pp. viii, 4448, steel-engraved portrait of Graham as frontispiece, contemporary half plum calf, mmarbled boards, gilt rules across spine, red leather label; extremities a bit worn, but a good copy, with the contemporary auautograph "J Stayner" on the top margin of the recto of the front free end-paper, Mary Jane Graham was born in London in 1803 and died in 1833. She was of delicate health and of a spiritual temperament, Her father, a successful London businessman retired with her to Stoke Fleming near Dartmouth several years before her death. The book's focus is on leading an exemplary Christian life; the prose is euphoric at times. As well as Stoke Fleming, some of her letters were written in Torquay and Chudleigh. The book concludes with six pages of general index. Edition of her works were published posthumouslye, e. g. in 1834, The Feeness and Sovereignty of God's Justifying and Electing Grace.
