She was of delicate health and of a spiritual temperament, Her father, a successful London businessman retired with her to Stoke Fleming near Dartmouth several years before her death. The book's focus is on leading an exemplary Christian life; the prose is euphoric at times. As well as Stoke Fleming, some of her letters were written in Torquay and Chudleigh. The book concludes with six pages of general index. Edition of her works were published posthumouslye, e. g. in 1834, The Feeness and Sovereignty of God's Justifying and Electing Grace.
