UNIV OF GUELPH Stanford gdom CAMBRIDGE UNIV Manchestger, Glasgow, St. Andrews David Landsborough (1779 – 854) was a Scottish minister of the Free Church of Scotland and noted amateur naturalist. This is the first edition of a work that was reprinted in 1747. Arran was reviewed at length in the Edinburgh Christian Instructor: "In looking over Arran, a descriptive poem, lately published by a respectable clergyman of our church, we have met with many passages marked by poetical beauty, and of deep interest to the pious mind, in surveying what is beautiful and sublime in the works of creation, and in contemplating the wonders of redeeming mercy in the fields of revealed truth.... We have little doubt that the volume will find its way into the parlours of persons of piety and poetical taste; and will become an agreeable companion, and a kind of directory in our steam boat excursions; and though persons living at a remote distance may find it less interesting on account of its localities, we are persuaded that those who reside on our western shores will peruse it with much pleasure, as describing scenery with which they have been long familiar, and whose beauties cannot fail to delight every spectator of taste and sensibility." Library Hub locates three copies of the book: Aberdeen, Glasgow, Cambridge, and BL; as well as a few online copies. NLS does have a copy of this 1828 imprint, but it's not easy to find.
