Title: Miscellanies, Eleventh Volume
Description: London, C. Davis & C. Bathurst. 1751, Fifth Edition. Leather, 3" x 5". Book, Miscellanies, by Dr. Swift, the Eleventh Volume, the Fifth Edition. Miniature, calf bound, with bookplate of Davie Bassett, Watermouth. Contains: Tatler no. V, no. XX & no. CCXXX, and Examiners no. XIII. Hinges cracking; endpapers stained; binding rather worn with some scratches. Watermouth Castle, now a theme park, at Watermouth Bay on the North Devon Coast, near Ilfracombe, between Hele Bay & Combe Martin, was built in 1825; the Bassett family had owned the estate since 1712, and later in the 18th century it was inherited by Joseph Davie, who then took the name of Bassett. This bookplate presumably then late 18th/early 19th century. Good/No Jacket.
