She was well known artist, was a college president, taught at Stanford Univ. as well as doing private commissions ranging from the last Empress of China and various court officials through her flower paintings. As a young girl in China she was trained in he classical tradition that was normally reserved for scholars. In her early 20ies she was invited by the imperial court to paint the Empress. At the time of the revolution she was forced to flee. She first crossed the Pacific in 1926, the second time in 1936 and the 3rd time in 1939 just at the time war was declared between Japan and China. This book is a collection of her paintings done during her long life. Book contains 60 full color prints, 62 pages. Very Good.
