Cloth cover is clean, dust jacket has dings, nicks, tears etc. Also inside are two letters from Mayer to books owner Tom Graff who had the Village theatre in Carmel California, also Graff's bookplate is inside cover. Letters are dated 1963 the other 1966. Both Mayer and Griffith were an unlikely pair to write a book together. Mayer the purist and film buff from the first movie every made, and Griffith who had somehow drifted into the picture industry. Arthur Loeb Mayer, was a legendary motion-picture exhibitor, distributor and lecturer on film history, born in 1886 he was in on the ground floor of the movie business. Griffith help Mayer shape this massive title that covers pretty much everything one may want to know about films. There are two letters pasted inside the front cover signed by Mayer as well as the bookplate of Tom Graff theatre owner with comments about some of the films and a Mayer's prior book Merely Colossal. This book is huge and can not be shipped internationally due its size and weight. Loaded with B&W photos sometimes as many as five or six on a page, index, 442 pages. Good/Acceptable.
