Sam Clemens or Mark Twain as most know him booked on impulse a cruise to the Holy Land. On board he met and became friends with Charles Langdon. Charles was sent on tour by his parents on what was to be a chaperoned grand tour. He had always kept a picture of his sister Livy with him, after hooking up with Sam and some other young men on board they formed the Night-Hawks while on board and when touring on shore. This tour was religious in nature and Sam was not. Sam was somewhat in love with love and the miniature of Livy captured his interest and the rest is history. These are a selection of their letters. Contains a list of persons mentioned in letters, Check list of letters, covers the time period from 1868 to 1903. 373 pages. Good.
