Staple bound in good condition. Text is clean and unmarked, binding tight, no loose staples or pages, some tanning of pages due to age. Cover is clean however due to white paper used heavily tanned. Baldwin was a locomotive pioneer, a Philadelphia industrialist, inventor, and a true American. Starting as a apprenticed Jeweler he so grew tried of making what he called gee-gaws that he decied to team up with a machinist and wood engraver named Mason. He put his skills to use improving the publishers art on book covers. This lead to manufacture of copper cylinders for printing calico as they could be rolled on almost any material. In 1829 a locomotive was imported from England and the rest is history when Baldwin was asked to produce a scale model for manufacture. B&W illustrations, also photos and illustrations pasted to pages, 32 pages. Good.
