Title: the Flying Carpet. Adventure by Airplane!
Description: Indianapolis, The Bobbs-Merrill Company, 1932. First Edition with the statement "First Edition" on the copyright page. Handsomely bound in gleaming black cloth stamped brightly gold on the front cover and on the spine. There is some scattered flecking to the black cloth at the top and bottom edges and along the spine, but not affecting the bright gilt lettering and drawing of a descending airplane. Very clean and tight throughout. In the scarce, colorful, pictorial dust jacket by Charles K. Stevens, featuring "The Flying Carpet" airplane soaring over glorious exotic palaces. The jacket is painted in glorious shades of gold, red, pink, and blue. Very bright and crisp with three closed tears on the rear panel, wear to the corners, and light edge-rubbing. With the original price of $3.75 at the bottom of the inside front flap. Very scarce in dust jacket, especially one as attractive as this one. With numerous photographic illustrations of exotic cities, "The Flying Carpet" is the airplane in which the author and his pilot-companion, Moye Stephens, Jr., follow a Royal Road to Romance in the air." They travel to Timbuctoo, spend two months in the French Foreign Legion in Morocco, and travel to the Holy Land. A charming book rich in adventure.
