Title: The Sea Dog
Description: New York, The Viking Press, 1958. First Edition with copyright 1958 and "Published in 1958 by The Viking Press, Inc." on the copyright page. A charming children's book finely bound in lime green woven cloth depicting The Sea Dog (Splash) playing with a fish on the front boards. With bright green lettering on the spine. Very clean and tight throughout, virtually unread. A near fine copy with wonderful drawings by Morgan Dennis on every page and drawings of the Splash chasing a pelican on the front paste-down, and the pelican chasing Splash on the rear paste-down. In a complete original dust jacket with the price of $2.00 at the top of the inside front flap and the code numbers "0508" at the bottom of the flap. The jacket is in very good condition with light edge-wear and some rubbing and wear at the corners. A small piece, the size of a pencil eraser is missing at the bottom of the rear panel adjacent to the spine. With a small faint circle of dampstain at the bottom right corner of the front panel. Overall, a collector's copy of this lovely story set in Key West. Splash is an Irish water spaniel who lives in Key West with his mistress, Heather, and her father and mother. Heather's mother wanted a house, her father a boat; but everyone was satisfied when they built a house-boat. They called it The Sea Dog. Splash was especially happy because there was plenty of water all around and even some dog friends nearby. One day when it was very rough, and small-craft warnings went up, everyone hurried to get ready for the hurricane.
