Christian Carl August Gosch (1832–1913) was a Danish-born political and historical writer who significantly contributed to literary and public debates in both Denmark and England. Born in Denmark, Gosch left his homeland in 1859 and settled in England, where he became an advocate for Danish interests, particularly during the 1864 Second Schleswig War between Denmark and Prussia. As a nationalist, Gosch actively promoted the Danish position in the British press, seeking to influence public opinion and garner support for Denmark. In the 1870s, Gosch played a prominent role in the Darwinian debates in Denmark, emerging as a vocal critic of the evolutionary theory gaining prominence through Charles Darwin's work. His detailed study, Udsigt over Danmarks zoologiske Literatur , articulated his anti-evolutionary stance. In this work, Gosch critically examined the status of Darwinism within Danish scientific circles, expressing skepticism about its scientific validity and broader implications..
