The book was issued as a limited edition of 250 signed copies - this is an out-of-series, unnumbered and unsigned copy, sent for review. 24 fine colour plates by the botanical artist Elizabeth Cameron (1915-2009), printed under the supervision of Martino Mardersteig at the Stamperia Valdonega in Verona. The artist trained at the Slade Art School and exhibited at The Royal Academy and Royal Scottish Academy. All the illustrations in this work are of flowers from her garden, Allangrange House in Ross-shire, Scotland. Cameron states 'for me white flowers are made up of so many subtle shades and soft colours; in fact in defiance of the title of this book I do not think there is such a thing as a white flower'. With preface by one of Britain's best known gardeners, Christopher Lloyd (1921-2006)..
