Nine un-numbered plates illustrate landscapes and native people, 10 lithographs printed by Hahnhart are of fauna (plate I-IX + one un-numbered: including 5 of birds by J.G. Keulemans, 3 of mammals by J. Smit, 1 (tinted) of the naked mole rat and 1 of butterflies by J. Macfarlane) and four by M. Smith, printed by Vincent Brooks Day & Son of flora (plate 1-4). Also issued with 10 of the lithographs hand-coloured, but this is an uncoloured copy. Includes several Appendices on the specimens of flora and fauna collected, by various authors (Lepidoptera by A.G. Butler; Mammals by F.L. Sclater; Rodents by Oldfield Thomas; Birds by G.E.
