Following the success of the folio limited edition Ireland's Wild Orchids (2004), the artist (Susan Sex) and author (Brendan Sayers) decided to produce this field guide, to 'bring some of that pleasure to a wider audience, while also providing a special edition for the book collector'. The field guide, designed in the manner of the notebooks and sketchpads used by artists and writers, is illustrated by Susan's paintings as well as photographs by various orchideers, and complemented by text notes and new accessible identification keys to the species, by Brendan. The book makes the mysteries of orchid identification easier whilst being a beautiful book in its own right..
