Pt 1: Birds of Prey (plates 1-34); Pt II: Incessores (plates 1-30); Pt III: Rasores and Grallatores (plates 1-34); Pt IV: Natatores (plates 1-30, 2*). Attractive hand-coloured bird portraits from drawings by J. Stewart. Each of the volumes contains a biography of an eminent naturalist: Sir Robert Sibbald (Pt I), William Smellie (Pt II), John Walker (Pt III), Alexander Wilson (Pt IV), each with an engraved portrait (but that for John Walker wanting in this set).Anker 227; Freeman 1928; Mullens & Swann p. 311..
