The quality of the hand-colouring varies in this work - the first issue, published by Paul Jerrard (1859) has both moths and floral backgrounds finely coloured and highly finished. The later T.J. Allman issues (such as this one) are not so highly finished; this copy is relatively well coloured, with the floral backgrounds partly coloured..
