Illustrated with dozens of b/w photographs and illustrations, including maps. Rear of book has XX pages of index to book. Grand Haven was settled in the 1830's and incorporated as a city in 1867. Grand Haven’s deep-water harbor, off the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, was a major transportation point for the area’s lumber industry in the 1800's. Shipbuilding was also a local interest in the waters of Lake Michigan, Grand River and Spring Lake.
