Frontispiece and eleven inserted plates with engravings of the village of Polstead and its church, portraits of Maria Marten, William Corder, the execution scene, and more. The Red Barn murder was one of the most publicized murders of the era. It took place in Polstead, in the county of Suffolk, England, and served as inspiration for many ballads and plays. Apparently, the victim's mother repeatedly dreamed that her daughter was buried in the place where she was later found. Binding is in fine condition. Text block shows some toning and foxing. The plates are all present but bound in a different order compared to the list provided in the content. They also show some toning and light staining. A very good+ copy. ; Octavo. .
